2 face multiple drug charges after search of residence

Being involved in an investigation into the possible presence of drug activity can be a stressful and scary process. Those who stand accused of wrongdoing in relation to such an investigation may face a variety of consequences, some of which could have a significant impact on their lives. Two individuals have been arrested and are facing multiple drug charges following the recent search of a residence in South Carolina.

According to reports, the investigation began after authorities claimed to have received information indicating that a man was inside a local residence on a recent Monday night. They claim to have arrived at the location soon thereafter and assert the man subsequently fled the scene on foot. After allegedly catching the scent of marijuana coming from the home, police say they obtained a warrant to search the property.

During the search, police claim to have uncovered various types and amounts of illegal substance, along with firearms and ammunition. Two individuals were taken into custody shortly thereafter, while authorities say they are still searching for the man who allegedly fled the scene. Both of those arrested are reportedly facing a variety of drug-related charges, including possession with intent to distribute and drug trafficking.

A conviction for drug charges carries serious penalties that could have a lingering impact on a person's future. Those who stand accused of such offenses and wish to seek insight into how best to prepare for what comes next could benefit from retaining the services of an attorney as soon as possible. An attorney in South Carolina can work toward protecting a client's legal rights and assist him or her in developing a plan to seek the best outcome achievable during subsequent court proceedings.
