Make a record of what they all are so you are prepared when the time comes to make decisions.
3. Gather Proof of Income
Income is part of the spousal support and child support calculations. This information seems very personal, but it is necessary in making this important determination. Find the documents that show your proof of income and make sure you provide them to your attorney.
4. Monitor Your Behavior
Divorce proceedings are hard on all parties involved. They are emotionally charged and can bring out the worst in people. Try to watch your behavior and act in a civil manner. You don’t want to do something in the heat of the moment that you may end up later regretting. The judge will be making the final determination in your case, so don’t do something that will make you appear to be uncooperative or a troublemaker.

What is a “simple divorce?
A simple divorce typically refers to one in which there isn’t anything at issue, meaning there aren’t any arguments over the issues, such as the distribution of property.
In most cases there is at least something that still needs to be hammered out. If you share children you most likely do not have a simple divorce case on your hands.
How long does it take to get a divorce?
There isn’t a set amount of time that a divorce proceeding will take, but in most cases you will need to be patient.
The good news is that all Family Court cases must be resolved within 365 days of filing or it will be dismissed unless it is granted an extension.
If your case is for no-fault divorce there is a one-year separation period, but that doesn’t mean it will only take one year.
Do I have to have a lawyer to get a divorce?
No, but it certainly is a good idea, especially if you share children.
